‘Rethinking environmental education - microplastics, marine biology & creative methods’
Learning Objectives
‘Learning means seeing the world through different eyes.’
This Erasmus+ training programme invites you to do just that: Broaden your perspective, exchange ideas with colleagues - and at the same time gain concrete, creative ideas for your lessons.
We are facing major ecological challenges today - the increasing pollution of the oceans by microplastics is just one of them. But this is also an opportunity: as teachers, we shape the future. We are builders of bridges between knowledge and attitude, between global issues and everyday school life.
This training programme takes you on an exciting learning journey through Athens - a city full of contrasts, cultural diversity and inspiring initiatives. The focus is on sustainability, microplastics, marine biology and creative educational work. In practical workshops, on exciting excursions and in dialogue with Greek teachers, you will discover how environmental education can be made lively, participative, effective and sustainable.
Our training programme focuses on an experience-oriented, participatory and practical approach. This means:
Learning on site - The city of Athens becomes a learning space: excursions, discussions with local actors and direct observations of nature provide an authentic approach to environmental and climate issues.
Participation & exchange - You will learn in discussions with Greek teachers, exchange ideas in a World Café format and experience learning “'by difference”'. Different perspectives enrich the discussion and strengthen your intercultural competence.
Creative variety of methods - Visualisation, upcycling, storytelling, multimedia work: In workshops, you will use a variety of didactic methods that can be easily transferred to your everyday school life.
Learning diary & reflection - The personal learning diary accompanies you throughout the week. This allows you to document your findings, ideas and observations and continuously reflect on your learning processes.
Practical relevance & transfer - The training is designed to enable you to directly transfer what you have learnt into practice - whether in subject lessons, in projects or as part of school sustainability strategies.
At the end of the week, you will not only be professionally enriched, but also personally inspired. You will gain new ideas, methods and tools to effectively and creatively incorporate topics such as microplastics, marine biology, sustainability and intercultural learning into your lessons.
